An assessment tool to determine the degree of commitment to diversity as a corporate asset An assessment tool to determine the degree of commitment to diversity as a corporate asset

Are you searching for a means to assess the corporate climate?

Do employees value the diversity of colleagues and customers?

The Diversity Assessment Scale Online (DASO) is a quick and easy tool to determine the degree of commitment to diversity as a corporate asset. This tool also provides staff with an opportunity to identify corporate diversity strategies and personal actions to further diversity in the workplace.

What Is It? What Is It?

  • The Diversity Assessment Scale is a web-based workforce assessment tool, consisting of the employee survey and management reports used by organizations to learn about employees’ knowledge, views and experiences relating to diversity and the work environment.
  • The survey results are reported in the form of management reports, providing valuable insight to the organization’s strengths, weaknesses and opportunities in order to plan a strategy to advance the organization’s diversity efforts.

Divided into four parts, the assessment tool is easy to administer and a cost-effective solution to determine the degree of commitment to diversity as a corporate asset.

Benefits To Employer:

The Diversity Assessment Scale gives employers a way to profile the organization. Whether the survey is paper-based or an on-line service, its outcome remains focused:

what’s your commitment to diversity as a corporate asset?

The survey provides information to:

implement - and later measure - change.
determine the degree of organizational and personal commitment to valuing and respecting diversity in the workplace.
collect statistical information.

Customization: Add Your Own Issues and Questions

One of the unique features of this tool is your ability to customize it. In the Advanced version, you can add your own questions reflecting the issues that are critical to your organization. It is not a fixed survey that treats your organization like any other. This extremely valuable feature sets our survey apart from others.

Relevant ResultsDiversity

The summary reports provide a way to identify employee’s perceptions of the workplace. Where does your organization stand? What do the people who work for you really think of the corporate climate?

It also summarizes the personal beliefs and experiences of the employees, giving an overview of what challenges and successes may lie ahead.

Actions for Change

Finally, it provides an opportunity for employees to pass on Actions for Change in an anonymous way. These Actions may be for the organization, or may be personal. These help generate ideas for the organization on what change should be implemented, and how it can support its employees to carry forward change on a personal level.

How The Diversity Assessment Scale Helped This Leading Company How The Diversity Assessment Scale Helped This Leading Company

A division of a global manufacturing company used the Diversity Assessment Scale advanced service for an organizational climate study. The company is committed to attracting and retaining the best and most qualified candidates, and to creating an organizational climate that values, welcomes and encourages different experiences, and ideas, where everyone is included in achieving business goals.

The company recognized that recruiting and hiring diverse people makes good business sense and that employee retention is the result of the organizational climate that supports a diverse workforce. The goal and outcomes were identified. The next task was to measure the current climate, in order to identify areas of strength, weakness and opportunities.

The Diversity Assessment Scale advanced service was selected to accomplish this task.

  • The ability to customize the employee survey was critical in the decision to select this tool, the client was able to add questions specific to the organization, and revise terminology to reflect the terms and phrases used within the industry.
  • The employee survey data was collected on a server external to the company providing employees with increased confidence that the company would not have access to individual survey results.
  • The employee survey results were immediately available in a format that allowed the company to analyse the results in order to identify the organizational development that was required to advance the company’s diversity efforts. The ability to view the results by location provided valuable insight to employees’ views, knowledge and experience relating to diversity at the different locations in the United States and Canada. The results by location provided key information that helped to prioritize future diversity initiatives.
  • In addition to the location reports, the reports based on gender, years of service, age group and position category provided the company with the knowledge necessary to identify, plan and implement appropriate strategies to advance the company’s diversity efforts.
  • For this company the results of the Diversity Assessment Scale provided key findings in order to develop appropriate strategies to advance the company’s diversity efforts. One of the significant challenges faced by this company and others is being able to answer the questions – what is working, or not working and what do we need to do maximize business success? Progressive organizations understand that diversity is an integral component of business success.
